"I have no need of books...my theories and calculations are of my own design." He glanced over, catching site of Lancet and that she was making her way towards Elenor, "I also see that you have brought that with you." His voice filled with venom as he mentioned the word that.

"Do not be so quick to dismiss the findings of others." Strategos spoke like a teacher correcting a child. "These are part of the collected writings of King Delacroix himself, renown alchemist and expert in the dark arts." Strategos let his hand glide across the book's cover.
"You mentioned before the powers of chaos. This book details Delacroix's understanding of the void and the origin of these dark powers. It is a one of a kind artefact. I assumed you might have use of it."

"Very well then. As I lose little in the giving of Lancet, I will accept this in payment." He glanced at the book a moment, a serious expression on his face. After a short while, he returned his gaze to Elenor, who was holding Lancet close to her and working her fingers across the girl's back. Small strands of dark fire ran across the girl's back, but did not burn her.

"You have not yet spoken of the other one." Koll picked up the book and began leafing through it slowly.

"What is there to say?" Strategos turned away from Koll.

"She is still alive...as you wished her to be." Koll didn't look up from his reading, "I keep my word."

"And that?" He pointed to the bloodsoaked hand that stood like a grotesque trophy on Koll's desk.

"She has already replaced it." He still didn't look up, "I can have her brought up if you do not believe my words."

"You are very trusting." Koll didn't look up still, "That is an admirable trait."

"We cannot choose those with whom we throw in our lot. We can merely trust in fate and each other." Strategos said, glancing down at Lancet.

Elenor reluctantly relinquished her grip on the girl and Lancet moved away from her and back over to Stategos. She stood quietly, the last of the purple flames dying out. Her face had eased from the look of pain that it had previously held.

Koll looked up now, "I assume that was your foremost reason for coming here, was it not?"

"You would be correct in thinking that." Strategos said matter-of-factly.
