Scarlet Drakes
Kain listened to the heated argument with a weary expression. The man was so arrogant, so presumptuous. Just like he himself had been. And the woman, she was cunning and manipulative, but showed, at times, a vulnerable, wounded side.

"I don't know why I even bother to stay with you now!" She cried. "You look down at me! You insult me--Maybe not with your words, but certainly with your eyes! It's been obvious from the start that you don't care for me and yet I've stayed." For payment.

With a heave Lothorian turned away from the woman. If she remained near him long enough she would know the truth...or would discover her own truth about him changed quite quickly.
He leaned against the log behind him and took a deep breath, drifting off to sleep.

The Grand Elder sat long into the night, contimplating the future of this band. He did not know where they were going. The phoenix was their guide, and such a guide could not tell them the destination. He'd seen visions of a castle...a castle stained red by blood and war...and he had a deep feeling that their goal lay within. Perhaps it was not so much of a place as a person or thing that the Phoenix lead them to...something to start anew with.
He rubbed his temples, his eyes hurt. His eyes always hurt at times like this when he worried. It was best for him to rest and worry about this in the morning when the phoenix reappeared to give them direction.

The pain began to subside and slowly Kain felt feeling return to his hand. He held his hand up infront of his face, removing the steel gauntlet and examining it. Black veins stood out from the surface of his skin and bulged grotesquely. Slowly, ever so slowly, they began to fade. Strange, he had never had such a severe attack before.

Sora could not hep but worry about her necklace. It was no wonder that she had no idea of what was happening now. She looked to Idian for the answers.

The morning came cold and stiff, with Lothorian waking to a screeching cry. A stream of fire streaked across the sky, heading deep into the east and along the road. The Drakes were already up and moving about, along with many of the refugees. It appeared that this was their morning ritual.

Sora beamed at the fire. She always thought that the sky was not meant to be the color of water.

Kain slowly rose from his seat with a groan. It was morning, time to leave these people he thought. Slinging the large bundle over his shoulder he began to trudge away from the camp, fighting his way through the densely packed snow at his feet. The powdery ice crunched loudly as he walked past Sora, sparing her a quick glance and noting the wonderment in her eyes.
