Why is there no COWBOY BEBOP thread?

Postby SirJill » Wed May 02, 2007 11:09 am

This is upsetting; it must be changed.

So: Cowboy BeBop, a show with space cowboys and girls galore, great characters and (even better) music!

All right, so, honestly, it's been a while since I've seen the series, but the characters and a few episodes still stand out quite vividly in my mind.

I get the feeling that Ed might be one of the most popular characters (I know she certainly is with me), but I'd guess Faye would pull a close second. Or Spike. Yeah...

I think that the main reason nobody's posted about it is that it has just been so long since the final episode has been shown, but it's not been long enough. All too often, it seems that people post about old things and new things, but not in-between things...

Well let us make this the thread.

Love the series, Spike ranks on my all time favorite characters. My favorite episode is Ballad of Fallen Angels, the introduction of Vicious. I am currently finishing up the series on a three disk set with the whole series on it, I am on the last two episodes right now.

There is little bad I can say about Cowboy Bebop except that it ended.

I loved every character. If forced to pick one as a favorite, probably Ed, but each was so well done, it's unfair to ask anyone to pick.

I grooved on the fact that each episode was in fact a Session. Based on either a particular song or a style of music. (pim, I'm still waiting to hear what style of music or song the Urashima Taro story you say is represented in Session 18 "Speak Like A Child" is )

The title "Speak Like a Child" comes from a Herbie Hancock song of the same name (and 1968 album).

for the music hear is a link to a cow boy bebop fan sight that lists lots of Cd's with all the cowboy bebop songs on them.
now if only there was a sight that would tell me how to make that cool remote controlled helicopter that Edward was playing with in "jamming with Edward"

Ok, it's pretty much a given that Spike Spiegel is the quintessential tragic hero. He was destined to die from the beginning...or was he?

Is there any way that Spike could not have died in the "Real Folk Blues" session and still maintained his "tragic hero" persona?

Well, it's generally thought that Spike died from the wounds he sustained in his duel with Vicious, and the fading star in the ending theme of the finale is said to lend wieght to that idea. In fact, I myself have always assumed he died.

However, from the "Cowboy Bebop DVD extras, Watanabe states "I've never officially said that he's died. At this point, I can tell you that I'm not sure if he's alive or dead. I think probably rather than being yelled at for killing Spike, I think...people are more upset that I might make a continuation."

However, if he doesn't die, does he still maintain the aura of a tragic hero?

You have me intrigued. What background music would it be?

some thing blues like.
actually If you think about it spike was a tragic hero form the beginning, because he could not get over Julia. Now if spike at some point had walked away then he would not have died. He would have started a new life.
but because he could not his meeting with viscous and there deaths were inevitable.
