Hey ya!
Being a very curious person I was wondering whose
your favorite anime character(s)?
Mine would have to be Vash from Trigun. He so
funny and yet so cool. Also Team Rocket from Pokemon. Though they're the bad guys they're kind of the series' underdogs. At least that's how I see it.

Posted By: Talon_Sinnah May 10, 2004 - 08:43 am

Spike (Cowboy Bebop)

Kenshin(Ruroni Kenshin)

D (Vampire Hunter D)

Posted By: Amaunette May 13, 2004 - 06:50 pm

Vash is obviously superior

Spike's not half bad, but he's a distant second to me. He doesn't have Vash's sense of humor.

I also like Gutso from Berserk.

Posted By: Magus May 15, 2004 - 07:30 pm

Kenshin Himora (Rurouni Kenshin)
Heero Yuy (Gundam Wing)
Duo Maxwell (Gundam Wing)
Kazuya (Tekken)
Yuseke Yurameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Posted By: Magus May 15, 2004 - 07:32 pm

Future Trunks (DBZ)
Cell (DBZ)

If you look at all of my entries you find that I like either A) Lone wolf, emotionally damaged people with tragic and joyless past or B) Funny people with varrying difficulties and past demons but generally ok fun loving people.

Posted By: Magus May 15, 2004 - 07:33 pm

or c) The cold, ruthless, calculating, Machiavellian, Draconian, merciless, sinnful, and dangerous villain that everyone loves to hate.

Posted By: Talon_Sinnah May 17, 2004 - 06:23 am

Personally I dislike Trigun, if it would have been serious from the start I might have liked the show. I also like Gutsu, Alucard from Hellsing was awesome too.

Such a difficult question...

Justy Ueki Tylor From The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. I liked his casual style that always looked like total stupidity yet he always had the right answer even though to everyone else it looked completely wrong or stupid or both before the situation of the moment became resolved and one could look back and see how Tylor's answer worked. Many have asked the same question; was Tylor really that simply and lucky or was his characterization simply a very deep cover for a brilliant and humorous man. I believe it was the latter.

Leona from Dominion Tank Police. I liked how she was sent into a new and hostile (male dominated)working environment yet she never gave up; worked very hard to make things work out and finally became an accepted member of the men's tank police squad. She showed some real strength of character in dealing with and participating in the male dominated work culture. I also liked her sense of purpose and adherance to her standards as she brought Buako in.

Nuriko from Fushigi Yugi. This man was so wounded by the loss of his younger sister that he tried to become what she might have been if she had lived. So he lived as his sister, taking up life as a woman until he was able to heal and let his sister go. He was able to experience many facets of life, grow and become more than he would have otherwise.

Godai from Mezon Ikkoku. He grew tremendously during the course of the series, from a sex starved high school graduate to a mature man who finally won his dream girl as his wife. You could almost feel his frustration and mental confusion during his moments of desire. Yet he managed to mature himself into a self controlled, well rounded man.

Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service. I related to how this young girl had the motivation and courage to go off on her own and seek her fortune in the world. I felt her pains and happiness as she experienced loneliness, failures and finally success and acceptance by a new community. Perhaps because it reflected my own experiences in life so well.

These choices are fascinating, Hype! I am not that well-(read)watched with anime, but a few of yours give me something to base any new series' that i may choose to watch, on. Thank you for your in-depth and detailed descriptions!

Rally vincent- Gunsmith cats. A female dirty hairy. What's not to love?

Spike- A gangster turned bounty-hunter who knows karate and loves guns. Anyone who uses a jericho baby eagle is alright in my book.

Wolfwood- Vash was good but not the coolest. Wolfwood, however, was awesome, funny and cool. A preacher/gunfighter? I like.

Vicious- The villian from cowboy bebop. I loved that guy, with the sword and the killing and the evilness. Oi!

Posted By: Iznardi May 27, 2004 - 08:42 am

I'd have to go with Kenshin Himora (Rurouni Kenshin). Have to admit, though, graphic novels leave me cold. No story, not really any dialog, I don't see the point in them. I think the old old comics like Prince Valiant and Tin Tin were much better. The graphics might not be as good, but you get much more bang for your buck in terms of an actual story you can read.

1) Spike is a little to smooth with his bruce lee moves.
2) Even thought I dont like the seris anymore..
Vegetta & Piccolo, They both thought they were bad asses, and were at one point.
-Trigun is terrible, Big O, Inuyasha, even DBZ and everything anymore child directed is s***

Kei from Original Dirty Pair and Dirty Pair Flash
Sango from InuYasha
Ed from Cowboy Bebop
Asuka Langely Sohryu from Neon Genesis Evangelion
Optimus Prime from Transformers
Rei Ayanami from Neon Genesis Evangelion- In a lot of ways, she's like Spock from "Star Trek"
Alucard from Hellsing
Allenby Beardsley from Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Spike From Cowboy Bebop
Roger Smith From Big O
Vash from Trigun
A-Ko from Project A-Ko
Shinji From Neon Genesis Evangelion
Giuseppe from Wicked City
Captain Alex Roe from Last Exile
Celestine from Ah! My Goddess The Movie- I know he's a bad guy but he's hot!!
Amon from Witch Hunter Robin
Shido from Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective
Guni from Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective

Has anyone heard of a Vampire Anime series called Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective. It's about a Detective who's a vampire, and he solves crimes that have to do with the supernatural. Here are the descriptions of the main characters:

Shido- The main character who's a Detective and a vampire.
Yayoi Matsunaga- Shido's sidekick and girlfriend. She's also a government agent.
Riho- A homeless girl who works as Shido's secretary
Guni- A little imp (that's a demon for those of you that do not know) that tags along with Shido

There are some other anime characters that I like but cannot think of them right now.

Brock from Pokémon!
Or perhaps Sailor Jupiter from the SailorMoon series.
Nope, still like Brock from Pokémon the best - Team Rocket were pretty good as well.

Oh yeah, and Ikari from Evangelion.

Posted By: P.T.L. Sep 04, 2004 - 04:19 am

Sengoku (Oedo 808) mainly because he has a cool coat

Captain Goto (Patlabor) because he isn't a one dimensional carton character

Brock (Pokemon) "nurse Joys and officer Jennys everywhere!"

Posted By: Magus Sep 04, 2004 - 06:20 am

I'm revising my list. Here it is, in no particular order:

Heero Yuy (Gundam Wing)

Duo Maxwell (Gundam Wing)

Trowa Barton (Gundam Wing)

Inuyasha (Inuyasha)

Sesshomaru (Inuyasha)

Yuseke Yurameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Hiei (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Kenshin Himora (Rurouni Kenshin)

Hot Rod (Transformers)

Shouldn't this be moved to the anime topic?

Posted By: Hyperion Sep 04, 2004 - 02:14 pm

'Major' Motoko Kusanagi. From Ghost in the Shell

Hyperion The Despised

Hey, Bmat? I think I found another topic to go under anime.

Posted By: Bmat Nov 08, 2004 - 03:48 pm

Good catch, Magus!

Posted By: Aldan Nov 08, 2004 - 09:37 pm

Of course, to make sure everyone understands the topic, perhaps it should be changed to "Who're your favorite Anime Characters?" or or "Who's your favorite Anime Character?"...

Posted By: Magus Nov 09, 2004 - 03:57 pm

No problem, Bmat. I was just looking for that "Annoying Teachers" topic and came across this.

You wouldn't happen to know where that topic is, by the way, would you?

Posted By: Bmat Nov 09, 2004 - 04:18 pm ... /3098.html

I used the search function by keywords.

Posted By: Magus Nov 09, 2004 - 04:24 pm

Thanks Bmat! As always I appreciate it.

Posted By: Bmat Nov 09, 2004 - 04:46 pm

You're welcome, Magus. Yes, I agree, Aldan.

Any of the Evangelion characters would give some of the best psychologists in the world a field day!

Major Kusanagi
Kazuma from S.CRY.ED- Has anyone seen this anime yet? It's basically a cross between X-Men and the Road Warrior
Bumblebee from Transformers
Hotshot from Transformers
Soundwave from Transformers- I liked how in the Original Transformers, he had Laserbeak and several others eject out of his body in the form of an audiocassette.
Ironhide from Transformers
Starscream from Transformers
Megatron from Transformers
Minerva from Transformers Masterforce- The first female Transformer
Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist
Al from Fullmetal Alchemist

Posted By: Magus Nov 10, 2004 - 01:34 pm

Update for myself as well, no particular order:

Kenshin Himora (Rurouni Kenshin)

Heero Yuy (Gundam Wing)

Duo Maxwell (Gundam Wing)

Yuseke Yurameshi (Yu Yu Hakusho)

Inuyasha (Inuyasha)

Wufe (Gundam Wing)

Zechs Marquise / Millardo Peacecraft (Gundam Wing)

Posted By: Anime_Trekker a.k.a Captain Marsh Nov 10, 2004 - 01:51 pm

A-Ko from Project A-Ko
B-Ko from Project A-Ko
C-Ko from Project A-Ko

Project A-Ko is one of the best anime movies ever made. If you have not seen this or any of it's OAV sequels (Project A-Ko: Love and Robots, Project A-Ko: Uncivil Wars), go get this. It not only has great fight scenes and panty shots, but it also has some very funny parodies. Captain Nepalita as being a complete spoof of Captain Harlock/Herlock was a plus!

I don;t have the greatest access to anime, unfortunately. I only have what they show on T.V., includin the Action channels (529 and 530) which show anime on Fridays, the small stock at Blockbuster, he internet and some of my friends you have more access then I.

Posted By: Anime_Trekker a.k.a Captain Marsh Nov 24, 2004 - 03:58 pm

Magus, do you have a Suncoast, Sam Goody's, Media Play, or FYE store at a nearby mall? Because their selection would put both Blockbuster and Hollywood video to shame.

Check out these places as well:
Best Buy-Yes they have an anime section
Circuit City

Posted By: Magus Nov 24, 2004 - 05:54 pm

I have all four at my mall. But I ind that they're all overpriced. I go to Best Buy for ll of my DVD shopping needs. They may have a horrendous return policy, but they have movies 1/2, 1/3 or even 1/4 the price of Suncoast. Barnes and Nobles, and the rest. I just usually care to watch something before I buy it, and Anime is much more expensive then other DVD's.

Posted By: Anime_Trekker a.k.a Captain Marsh Nov 28, 2004 - 03:31 pm

You might want to check some used games and cd's stores because some used stores like Slackers Used Games and CD's sell used anime between $5 and $15.

Also check Critics Choice Video at

P.S. I am willing to pay whatever price Suncoast sets. I am a member of their Replay club and get coupons that range from $5 to $20 in savings
