The woman touched the wall as they moved up the stairs, sensing the stone itself. There was an odd motion within it, something that she had never felt before. Was it possible that the tower was actually moving itself?

She shook her head slighlty and touched the wall. There was a low hum and where her fingers trailed the wall glowed for a few moments, lighting their way.

Tsar's hand flew to his taser when the first light appeared. After a moment he relaxed and watched as the woman led him up the stair.

"No need to fear me..." She took her hand from the wall and the light disipated, "It is too dangerous now. We must move on in the dark."

There is something coming...

Marren can see it without her eyes. There is a pounding in the ground, something huge. The tower has sent something after her, something to chase her to them.

It has rejected her.

She enters a chamber, and hears their voices in the dark, sees the light from behind a corner. There are two, she sees that now. She shrieks, "Turn back, turn back! The tower will destroy you!"

But they seem not to hear her warning, and continue their approach. Marren waits, her hands clutched behind her head, her back pressed against the wall.

Just as the two enter this chamber, the room shifts. It is no longer dark, instead, it is candle lit. They are in a cavern morgue, with multitudes of skeletons pressed into nooks in the walls. Marren is startled by the sudden change, and retreats to a corner.

The thing is there...Made of bone and cloth, flaming behind it's sunken eyes, a sword made from the bones of a creature bigger than itself, it has made it's way here. It is the tower's first test for those who care to try their fate.

Marren cowers in the corner. Such a thing is small, but she has no care to face the tower, not after so many years in harmony with it.

The woman stopped. She peered about her at the bones. So this was their first test, the first test that the tower would put them through. How many levels would they have to go through to find their answers?

She let out a light sigh, brushing the stone with her fingertips. Nothing living here...or at least nothing exactly alive that she could commune with.

Reaching out, she took a candle from its holder and spun a hand around it, stiffening the wax so that it wouldn't drip onto her hand. She looked behind her, "Something is here...something very dangerous."

Tsar nodded and stepped out from behind the woman, cross-drawing his taser with his left hand and extending his police baton with his right. Tsar fliiped through all his vision spectrums, finally settling on the standard once again.
He increased the suits power to his right arm and started walking to the center of the chamber.

The woman kneeled down, reaching out towards one of the skeletons. There was no life in these, and there had never been. They were not real, a contrived scenery of the tower to confuse them and cause them fear...nothing more.

She poked the skeleton, standing when it crumbled at her touch. The tower did not seem to like her, or the aura that she carried with her.

Satisfied that she had assessed that situation, she followed the man.

Marren emits a harsh squeak as the two advance. She tries to warn them to stop, but the sounds she cries appear to have no meaning to them. They can't see her. She tries to call to them, but they do not hear.

Only the tower hears.

The thing is there. She feels it's pounding through the floor. Why can't they see it? Ravid with fear, she sinks down on her spot at the far wall, muttering, "It's here...It's here."

The skeleton with the bone sword moves towards the centre of the room, and makes to swing at the two travellors, who don't seem to see it, and there is nothing that she can do.

The skeleton nearest Tsar started to move. Knowing electricity would be of little use Tsar quickly holstered his taser and drew another baton as he moved to block the bone monsters sword.

Was this the thing that had caused her senses to tingle so? Was this construct the danger that she feared? The woman doubted that such a thing would pose a challenge to the experienced fighter that accompanied her. No, there was something deeper...a seething within the tower itself.

It didn't want them here...but she could not blame it. They were trespassers in its domain, this was its world and it only wished to protect it.

She ignored the monster behind her, pressing herself against teh nearest stone and stroking it with her fingers. She spoke quietly and soothingly, "There there....we only wish to pass through...we do not mean any harm..."

Tsar took the heavy blow, one handed, against one of his batons. The hardrer the blow the more his suit pushed back. With his free hand Tsar brought his second baton down, crashing into, and through, the creatures knee.

Marren could hardly manage to will herself to see her surroundings. She cried into her protective arms at the sounds around her, at the will of the tower, at it's potent rage.

But suddenly, it all stopped. For a brief moment, sound ceased, as did the tower's rage. It was a different emotion, and Marren couldn't quite detect what it was. It was so strange, that she had to force herself to see. The warrior man was encountering the skeleton, and though he had taken blows, he seemed to have the situation under control. <:Edit:>The skeleton was standing up on one leg, perfectly balanced, it's other having been knocked to the floor by the warrior's skill, and laying unmoving on the floor tiles.

But the other...the other was doing something strange.

She knew the tower.
She knew the tower like Marren knew the tower.

But how could she think that a few words of acknowledgement could still the hatred of the ancient site? A fool...

The tower trembled and the rage sputtered through Marren's brain. The skeleton landed a blow on the warrior, sending him flying, and the other was approached from behind by three others, newly revived from their caches.
