Sveiks, Dexter! Welcome to SV.

What's it like in Latvia?
I'm going to die the way I've lived...poor, screaming, and naked.

Depends on what you're in the mood for. When I joined I just went through one topic at a time until I had them all covered. You'll return to whatever interests you the most.

The different areas of Speculative Vision are the Art Gallery, the Arcade, the Library, the Resource Network, and of course the Forum.

The Art Gallery is a place for members to share their original Science Fiction and Fantasy artwork.

The Arcade has a bunch of arcade style Flash and Java games.

The Library features Interactive Fiction in a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style and also Full Text Classics such as 20000 Leagues Under the Sea, Frankenstein, The Iliad, The Time Machine, etc.

The Resource Network is a collection of links that range from Authors and Publishers to Role Playing Games and everything in between.

Then of course there's the Forum. Many of the Forum sections are fairly self-explanatory. The Comments On Speculative Vision forum is where Site announcements are made and where members can post feedback and suggestions, or ask questions about the Site. The Master's Bar and Grill is the social center. In the Other Reading forum you'll find topics on Webzines, Comic Books, and Web-Comics.

In the Collaborative Stories forum you'll find the venerable Lycoria. An ongoing story in the Fantasy genre. In the Role Playing forum you'll find the neverending PATD (we've been going at it for over 10 years and 5 different BBS's) and other Role Playing stories. The PATD is more Science Fiction than Fantasy, but there are Fantasy elements to it.

The Writer's Discussion Forum is a place to not only discuss the craft of writing, but to get feedback on your work and critique others work. You don't have to be an expert or published writer to comment on other people's work and we encourage everyone to read other people's writing. Just remember to be courteous and offer constructive criticism.

We try to keep spammers out and frown on people who only post to promote their own work without further participating in the Site, but we also understand that it's hard to get started too, so we have the Author and Artist Announcements forum. Which is for writers and artists to self-promote their own works.

In the Off Topic Conversations you'll find forum games like the stupid question game or Ban the user above you! and everything else that doesn't fit anywhere else.

Like Ariel said, just look around and see what interests you.
I'm going to die the way I've lived...poor, screaming, and naked.
