Magus, what is frog-eyed salad?
Ariel:
Nut Pudding
This is a recipe that has been in my family a few generations. We always have it at Christmas and Thanksgiving. It is a rich, moist, flavorful cake-like dessert which has it's own sauce to spoon over when serving. It can be eaten as is or the way we prefer with whipped cream or topping.
Directions:
1 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 cups water
1 tablespoon butter
Boil for ten minutes, pour into greased 8x8" pan
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cup sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nutmeats (pecans are good)
Mix together and drop into cooked syrup. Bake about 30 minutes in 350 degree F oven.
The cake should be set (pick inserted comes out clean), but the sauce should be of syrup consistency.
Can be served warm or cold, with or without whipped cream.

I could but baked, homemade pumpkin pie is so much better than store bought, and although I am a wonderful cook myself, I can't bake a pie to save my life.
