The City

Avians shriek as they swoop by,
Wings held steady as they soar.

Tires screech as rubber rubs off,
The car comes slowly to a halt.

A rottweiler barks out its challenge,
The bike rider pumps his pedals in panic.

A clank and crunch signals destruction,
As the garbage truck passes on its way.

A schoolground's residents laugh in play,
The soccer ball spinning white and black.

Sweeping wind lifts the papers high,
Up they soar to spread as lies.

A man steps from the roof so tall,
Then screams his way down as he falls.

This was one I decided to write just now. I took no time to mold it, to form it, to fit it into my other poems. I just put it down here to see if I could write a decent poem in nothing flat. It may have come out as nothing, flat... but that's what I'm trying to find out.

I made one minor change to this poem...

I changed the line that said 'spinning black and white' to 'spinning white and black'. I leave it to you to figure out why...

Ah, a typical day until the poor guy jumps off the roof. Unexpected. Good one!
