Happy Rain

I'll let you figure out my motive...

Happy Rain

He walks down the muddy sidewalk
Being splashed as cars pass
Hat and trench coat dripping wet
His breath steaming in the cold

Convertibles zip along the sunlit street
Tops down and stereos playing
Tube tops and shirtless driving
Bleached blondes and jean shorts

A strand of hair exposed to rain
Drips blackly as he walks
Down the wet street under lamps
And carefully steps off the curb

The night sky full of stars
Like diamonds twinkle in the sky
Jet black in center, light gray on edge
With lunar light brightening the show

He nears a lamp as sheets of rain
Sheathe him like a knife in blood
And the streetlight sends a shadow
Across his face and down his chest

Neon glitters from club windows
Rich red lights beckoning in
Reflecting off of parking lot windshields
As lines of people wait to enter

A pair walks toward the black-clad man
Smiling in sunlight they step apart
Allowing the cloudy person to pass between
And they look at each other in curiosity

Black eyes peer from the hat brim shadow
At two approaching figures in the dim light
His body tenses as they suddenly split
And he steps between in the pouring rain.

Interesting. It was entertaining, actually reminding me a little about this one stream of conscience poem I read a while back... "The Love Song of Arthur Prufrock". Very enjoyable, although the meaning of it isn't entirely clear. I have an idea, though.

If you want my answer to the purpose, just PM me. It's cheating, but hey, this isn't school, and I'll at least give you some hints...

Well, I think it's similarly motivated/themed as "The Love Song of Arthur Prufrock", there's a person wanting to enter a bar/club and not knowing if they can muster the courage. That's my take, anyway.

I enjoyed reading it. It tells a common scene, so to speak.

Think about psychological perspectives....

I agree with the others. Very nicely done Aldan
