Picking a favourite movie is tough, especially because there are so many that are good for different reasons. But of classic movies, I'd have to say Casablanca (just because Humphrey Bogart is the epitome of cool) and The Godfather (because of the standard that it set for film in general). Though getting into the realm of SF and Sci Fi, one of my all time favourites is Donnie Darko. Star Wars episodes 4 and 5 (New Hope and ESB) are timeless. While I'm not too much of a trekkie, I grew up watching them and I'd have to say Undiscovered Country is the best one. A final note, I'm a big fan of Michael Mann. While his films may not always be the best (Miami Vice) his use of vivid cinematography always brings me back.

I'm not claiming it to be my favourite or anything, but I do like "Enemy Mine", cheesy though it probably is, along with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, not cheesy. And if I'm going to get all pretentious, then Luis Bunel's Nazarin from way back when.

And all the Star Trek movies as an after-thought.
Can you have an after after-thought? Then Klute, Witness, and everything else I cannot think of just now.

A Christmas Carol (also known as Scrooge) starring Alastair Sim. This has been my favorite movie since I was very little. Always felt sorry for Scrooge and I always tear up at the end when he finds his humanity. Beautiful film.
