VAMPIRE TV SHOW LATE 80'S EARLY 90'S

Postby kujo00 » Tue Jan 24, 2006 6:15 pm

I can't remember much about the show other than the vampires tried to live normal lives and didn't want other people to find out. I know it was on Sun nights and probably only had a maximum of 3 seasons. I believe that the main characters name was Barthalomew (sp?) please help i am losing my mind trying to figure this out!!!

Your description reminded me of Dark Shadows, but that was late 60's, and had Barnabas.

Closest thing I can think of is Kindred: The Embraced.

I bet it was Dark Shadows. There was an attempt to revive it as a prime time series. I think it cancelled prior to the second season, and left itself in a cliff hanger.

Here's the IMDB link: http://imdb.com/title/tt0101075/

Oh, and I was quite infatuated with Joanna Going.

I remember a show that fits that time frame that was called Forever Night (though night may have been spelled differently).

I think it did last 3 seasons, but I thought I remembered it being on Friday nights.

There was only one Vampire in Dark Shadows, and that was indeed Barnabus Collins. I first thought of forever Knight which chronicled the story of Nick Knight, and his job as a Toronto Police Detective.

However, this was in the early 90's so it doesn't really fit the time frame. It did however run for about three seasons, so that does fit. Although the main villian in that series was known as Lecroix.

I still don't think it was the remake of "Dark Shadows" which I did watch and loved dearly. Can you tell me more about the show? Maybe I could help. As stated earlier though, what you have here sounds suspiciously like Forever Knight. Which was another of my fav series.

As mentioned by Gratch and drkvamp, there was Forever Knight.

It was a series in which the lead character was a police detective as well as being a vampire. It orginally aired between 1992-1996 so it roughly fits the time period and series run duration. It also featured the character of Grace Balthazar (played by the actress Sandi Ross,) in 6 episodes.

It was like you took the exact question I had right out of my mind! I've thought about that show many times & just never looked it up until now. I believe people are correct, it's "Dark Shadows" from 1991. There are 12 episodes of it on Hulu. I'm going to check it out!
