No problem.

Heard yesterday or the day before: The new movie will not open in December, 2008, but May 8th, 2009. The apparent reasoning is that it will make more money with a summer premier.

That will also fall on the heals of the Ironman movie release date of May 2nd.

The blurb I read said that the writer's strike affected the release date. The only reason they didn't announce a delay before now is because they had no idea how long the strike would last and how much of a delay would be necessary.

How about Tom Brady? His QB days with the Pats are probably over. He looks a bit like Shatner. His acting skills are probably close.

Then you can stick some point ears on Keanu and you've got young (kind of ) Spock as well.

And hey--Keanu once played a football player--I'm telling you, it's kismet.

I haven't heard anything about it. Has there been any update on the release date?

In an interview given in February, Damon Lindelof talked about how the release date of the Star Trek would move from December 25, 2008 to May 8, 2009.

It's been stated that the move wasn't due to the end of the WGA strike, but because the studio felt that more audiences would go see the film during summer than winter. The film will still be practically finished by the end of 2008. They chose May 8 because it avoided competition with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Angels & Demons, which come out in the same month.

Paramount's decision came about after visiting the set and watching dailies, as they realized the film could appeal to a much broader audience. While the filmmakers had been comfortable with the Christmas release date, Damon Lindelof acknowledged it would allow more time to perfect the visual effects.

IMDB also has the US/UK release date listed as 8 May 2009.
