Goodbye, Scotty.

Very sad to see another SciFi legend pass away. He seemed to be a very loving and sweet man from what I've read about him.

My all time favorite Scotty scene was when Kirk was trying to find out what happened to cause the fight at the bar, and Scotty admitted that even though he was calm during insults of the captain, that insulting the Enterprise wasn't acceptable.

Starfire and I saw him at a convention about 10 years ago. He seemed to enjoy talking to the fans.

My favorite Scotty moment:

"Don't know anything ABOUT it??? I find it hard to believe that I've traveled MILLIONS of miles..."
"Thousands!"
"...THOUSANDS of miles..."

*shakes head*

Another one is gone. That is too bad. It had to happen, but it's too bad. I hope that his going was painless and that he will receive the rewards for the joys he brought to others in this life in the life to come...

A story someone posted about him another site

I heard a story once about how he had received a letter from a Trek fan who was going through some severe depression (I think it was depression) and how this person said in this letter that they felt like they were getting close to giving up on everything. In response, James Doohan wrote back and convinced this person to come to a convention he was doing in the near future. They met there and talked and he convinced this person to come to his next convention as well. And it got such that this person started attending pretty nearly every convention that Doohan did, and doing this, giving this person something to look forward to, helped this person come out of their serious depression.

Not only all that, but she attended college and graduated with a degree in Engineering, and has a family of her own now. It was always one of his favorite stories to tell.

Ah yes, our honeymoon. It will always have a special place in my heart. The people there were asking all kind questions that he must have heard a million times. He was still very polite as answered each one.

One the other hand the actress who played Dax was not so nice to the people there.
