I have conjectured similarly that some talents and skills come from being immersed in the subject. If a person has the opportunity to devote most of their time to a subject, it makes sense to me that they will excel in the subject as opposed to someone who only occasionally ventures there.

I agree with you on that. It took me a long time to develop my writing skills and I myself believe I still got a way to go after 10+ years

The drive to want to write, the creative impulse, if you will, is born. The ability to write well must be learned.
