I give to you the meager offerings of Well Wishing and Blessings one can send. You and your family shall be in my prayers as I pick them up once again.

You people are just the best. I had tears in my eyes just reading your replies. Mark has been through hell and it's not over yet. He is back in the hopsital again. Potasium level, electrolytes all screwed up. That can wreak havok and give you a heart attack. I didn't know that before. He has an infection. Looks like they will be taking the leg just above the knee. There are so many complications that could happen. I am so scared and worried I can hardly put this into words.

I have watched this man suffer so much for so long with one thing or another. It breaks my heart. Please pray or send good vibes or whatever you can do. The way he looked today I thought I might lose him. Hours later he was feeling much better, but still in pain. Hugs to all my very special, kind and loving community of people here. You are my extended family and I love you all!!!!

Thank you Pim!

Tomorrow he goes in for surgery. He will be losing the leg above the knee. He will have a long road ahead of him with therapy and getting used to a prostetic leg. Will keep you all posted on his progress. Tomorrow of course I'll be a nervous wreck until he comes out of surgery.

Oh my gosh :( Hopefully this more drastic measure will be a blessing allowing him to move forward with recovery instead of struggling with relapse. Thinking of you both.

I am sorry. As The M says, this may be the best way since it should stop the relapsing. My sons' scout leader had a prosthetic leg (he lost a leg to a land mine.) He hiked, biked, camped out, and is still doing well with an active life.

Surgery went very well but am I pissed! Here comes my husband up from surgery and into his room. Poor guy is in agony and the nurse says getting his medicine will be her top priority. Well here we are waiting and waiting and finally I went to get another nurse to inquire about it. Seems his nurse was looking for the key. looking for a key?????? They must have the good stuff locked up but please.....look for the key? This man was going through hell waiting for relief.

Finally she comes in and gives him some morphine and something in pill form also. Ok he starts feeling a bit better. Now here he was hooked up to a heart monitor but the machine wasn't turned on. He has a bag of the saline drip but had to wait for a pole to hang it from. Since he missed lunch and was able to eat, they ordered him a sandwhich and it took an hour before he got that. His johnny was soaked he was sweating so much and I had to hunt a nurse down for a clean set and for towels and a face cloth so I could wash him. He was trying desperately to get comfortable and I helped him with his pillows and what-not.

Now my brother-in-law and I were in his room for a while before the nurse tells us we had to wear a gown. mark had gotten VRE from a previous room mate the last time he was in the hospital and the guy he is with now has it as well. Never in my life have I ever seen such poor care in that hospital. I guess the nurse could tell I was concerned and not happy when I kept asking questions like "Isn't this machine supposed to be on?" "Isn't he supposed to have this saline drip?" It was 2:oclock and the nurse hadn't even had time to have lunch. She was saying how there were so many people who didn't have health insurance and all the hospitals that she works in are losing so much money that they don't have the staff they need to care for patients. One reason I believe in border control. Our hospital was on the verge of closing but are merging with another one. Thank God because other hospitals are not near by and you could die by the time you get there.

Even when he was in the hospital previous to this visit he always had to wait for pain meds. If you saw how much of his foot was cut away and what that wound looked like...believe me, he was in pain!!! This is a man who can take a LOT of pain, who never complains or bothers the nurses for anything. I am so upset right now.

When I saw the agony he was in earlier today it broke my heart. When I called him to say goodnight he said the pain was much worse. They were supposed to set him up with the morphine where he can press it so many times himself if he needs to. I asked him how long he was waiting but there was no clock in the room. Tomorrow I'm bringing him a watch so he will know.

Thanks for letting me rant. They always have a paper you can fill out once you are released from the hospital so you can rate their service. Now I have this all written down here so I will remember everything. Tomorrow I will be spending a lot of time there and making damned sure he doesn't suffer in agony waiting for god knows how long for relief.

:(
