Apparently, Jack Sparrow will be the only returning character.

I think three of them was enough, the first one was the best...

I really didn't like the last. To my tastes it went over the edge. Jumped the shark.

If Jack is the only returning character, I might watch the new one.

Yeah, the third one wasn't that great even though Johnny Depp was excellent.

I have to chuckle at how in their article, Cinema Blend spends as much time patting themselves on the back for their "scoop" as they do talking about the upcoming movie.

It wouldn't bother me that much if it's only Johnny Depp returning. Though the three previous movies fared well with a strong ensemble cast, both Orlando Bloom's "Will Turner" character and Keira Knightley's "Elizabeth Swann" character were getting tiresome by movie three. Elizabeth Swann in particular was not only becoming more and more unrealistic (unrealistic in a Disney movie you say? No, really,) but annoying as well.

It'll be interesting to see if the plot involving Nemo plays off of the previous theme of the Golden Age of Piracy coming to an end and Jack Sparrow's longing for it not to change. To remain free on the Sea. The technological Nautilus could go a long way to continuing that theme of the ending of an age.

Johnny Depp is a great actor and his character of Captain Jack Sparrow could carry the entire movie, but I'm sure they'll fill the screen with talent and characters equal to the the previous movies.

However, I'm left with a feeling of disappointment. The first movie was great and each subsequent movie, while very good, seemed to slip farther and farther away from how good that first one was. When I heard about Nemo possibly being in the next movie I thought "Really?" It almost seems like they're trying to slip further away from what the original movie was.
I'm going to die the way I've lived...poor, screaming, and naked.

I'm going to, figuratively, hold my breath.

My fear would be a Captain Jack Sparrow slapstick farce, like the last Indiana Jones movie (Let's face it: NOBODY is going to survive an atomic bomb blast in an old refrigerator, especially one that's been blown a couple of miles from ground zero, and just how did that poison dart reverse itself in the blowgun?).

I guess time will tell.

I think I would end up watching it simply because I watched the others ones.

The official title is "Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger tides".

That fits in well with the rumored plot. ;)

I was disappointed, very disappointed, at how "Pirates of the Caribbean 3" ended. Even the little scene after the credits was another stab in the heart. I was expecting some positive closure, but instead they decided to leave audience members hanging.

If the fourth installment actually happens the writers and director will have a big chore on their hands to now include a story taking place 10 years later (to maintain canon from the third) along with the new character of Will's son. People will want some closure of the romantic bond between Will and Elizabeth, which is another chore to solve. Maybe Jack will take his place after all, with the Fountain of Youth restoring Will's life.

All the publicity I've seen so far has PotC4 going off in a totally different direction. I didn't see too much left hanging at the end of PotC3. Will captained the Flying Dutchman, and apparently was carrying out his duties of ushering souls of sailors who died at sea to wherever they were supposed to be ushered to. Will came back to Elizabeth after ten years, and she has remained faithful to Will for those past ten years, so there is already a romantic closure, even if they have to wait for ten years between seeing each other. From the ending shot after the credits, it looks like their love was strong enough that those ten years did not diminish their feelings for each other.

The only things that were left dangling was "Will Jack find the Fountain of Youth?" (Which is supposed to be the "spring-board" of PotC4), and of no real consequence, "What ever happened to Captain Barbossa, The Black Pearl, Pintel and the one eyed homunculus (Ragetti)?"

But you know those Hollywood types: At this point, the real story is "secret", and PotC4 could very well start with Will stepping onto shore, and Elizabeth saying, "Will, this is not your son..." But, i rather doubt that.
