Today was an example of that. One of my simulators was dead in the water (It's computer is a vintage '70's contraption with a 150 lb power supply that had to be changed)

So my computer decided not to start up. Fans and drives spin up, but no POST. I spent many hours testing and swapping out items and have concluded that the motherboard has decided to crap out on me

Since they don't make socket 775 boards anymore (at least not higher end ones with the capabilities I need) this means a journey through the hell that is Ebay Roulette. Its times like this I'm grateful to have a laptop.

well I guess that is all relative, If you woke up and found your self a starving Ethiopian then your bad day you had as yourself would not seem so bad. you just did not know how good you had it because you lacked a basis for comparison.

New costs a lot more Pim. Besides, what I have more than meets my current need, so spending money to upgrade to newer tech is a waste when I could spend that money on something else. Like my Visa bill
