is it from a fairy tale ?
No.
is it from a children's book ?
No.
(Check the "additional hint" in the previous post. "Science fiction/horror" genra.)
I was going to say Jabberwocky but the Jabberwocky has a Tale.
The Jabberwoky is not asleep. It is an dead Jabberwocky. It lost it's head during a chance encounter with a brash youth with a sword with little regards to the importance of a top predator in and ecosystem. Now, the slitytroves have gone through a population explosion, and threaten to wipe out the feeding grounds of the monewraths. But, I digress....
IT sleeps in a deep, warm, dark place (Genra-wise, origin is from "science fiction/horror")
No: PATD character, dragon, Demon, from classical mythology, has tail, from a fantasy novel from a fairy tale, from a childrens book.
Sort of:
Yes: Fictional, animal (not veg or mineral), make believe animal (For the broad definition of "animal").
No.

"science fiction/horror" is not really my strong point.
is it from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy ?
that is humor not horror.
oh right.
um amnesia ?

And, it is also not from the HGtG.
um amnesia ?
No.
An oldie but a goodie: does IT begin with the letter "C"?
Yes. Yes it does. (Merle is on to something!)
Has IT been depicted in a movie?
I'll give that a "Sort of", since only one real movie has been made, though it was not released in theaters, only in ertsy-fertsy film fests, and a lot of YouTube shorts and pretend "Movie trailers".

Yes, IT is Cthulhu!
I took this (from Wiki), "malevolent entity trapped in an underwater city in the South Pacific called R'lyeh" to mean "warm".
All together, now:
"In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
