Server Upgrades

Postby The Master » Wed Jan 17, 2007 4:12 pm

Speculative Vision is being moved to a new server by our hosting provider. The new server is a big upgrade, essentially moving our site to "latest and greatest" server equipment. This should provide improved page serving response especially for the forums.

The transition should be seemless for our users. However, because it is an actual hardware move there is a chance something will go kablooey (that's a technical term). If you do notice any problems anywhere on the site please let me know so I can jump up and down on my host until they fix it.

This is a curiosity question regarding 'seemless'... I've always assumed that it was spelled 'seamless,' as if it was 'without seams,' so that there would be no bumps to go over or anything, but I don't know. If you have any idea of finding out what's correct, I'd be very interested in knowing it, since before now, I'd never seen it typed or written....

My pop up blocker usually catches everything but lately I have a couple of ad things popping up all the time. One is from Walmart that supposedly I have won...blah blah blah. Very annoying.

Same here.

A little guy dressed in black that turns into a showflake? Pops up only on the log in Page?

It seems it's something tied in with this site, now, from the server, I'm guessing.

I don't see it. I use XP home, and Norton's ad and popup controls.
