Do you watch Person of Interest?

Post by Bmat »

I've just started watching it. I don't know if there are even new episodes being made, but I like the plots and some of the characters.

Not watched any of it. What's it supposed to be about?

I don't know if you remember Colossus: The Forbin Project. This is similar in that a man invented software that he calls The Machine that keeps track of people through cellphones, surveillance cams, etc, and the guy and his team aim to help people. At one point a bad guy (somehow) arranged for another computer (system) (AI) called Samaritan, which from what I can tell is working against the Machine. It appears that the Machine isn't all benevolent.

Science Fiction crime drama. And I like the characters.

Oh, and by the way, I see it has been picked up for a 6th season.

Here is the season 1 intro (I found on wiki)

"You are being watched. The government has a secret system: a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know, because I built it. I designed the machine to detect acts of terror, but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people; people like you. Crimes the government considered 'irrelevant'. They wouldn't act, so I decided I would. But I needed a partner, someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You'll never find us, but victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you".

I didn't think it was sci fi from the previews. I may have to check it out. Is it on Netflix?

I don't remember Colossus lol. When was it on TV?

CBS Tuesdays 9PM eastern

I've been watching old episodes on ION.

I just saw that it has officially been cancelled after season 5. The finale is June 21.

Colossus the Forbin Project was a movie based on the book Colossus. Pretty interesting SF that discussed a number of questions such as how much freedom should we give up for the sake of security.

Sounds like Colossus should be mandatory reading in school these days

Yes it should be. It is a classic question, how much power should an AI have over humans even if it can stop crime and injustice.
