I do like stories about cats. They are pretty much the ruler of the household. Personally I felt the narrator of the story was a bit unkind to the cat, but this tells us something about the narrator's personality.

My preference is for shorter names. I see mainly in fantasy that writers use long names that are difficult for the reader to pronounce, so, in my case, I skip over the name when reading.

You have a way with description.

Prostitutes seem to be frequently tied into the world of drugs and human trafficking, it is sad to say. If prostitution were legal everywhere, and the ladies (and men) were checked regularly for disease, it could help. They wouldn't have to be on the drug and human trafficking side, maybe. Just a co...

If I may add a comment of my own, I am presently, and for the last 10 years, dealing with my resentment toward a person who greatly wronged me. Perhaps if I use your thought of the "insinuation of wrongdoing in others" maybe I can find relief.
