For want of a match

Post by aldan »

I worry that
I do not do
The things I know
That I must do

And as I walk
I nearby hear
A thumb-less dike (D I K E)
Spurting a flow
Of murky water.

As darkness floods
My dusky, drenched town
And muddy streets
Impede my way
I curse the dark
As I pass an unlit torch
And stumble, shivering,

And a matchbook lies
Unnoticed in my lint-filled pocket.

Interesting poem. Enjoyable, but of yours I would say it's not one of my favorites. It does remind me of one of my poems I wrote a while back... if only that they both had matchbooks in them.
