Single. bells. single. bells. jingle. jingle. I say JINGLE ... all. the. way.
Oh. no. my rug's. fallen. off. time to run. away!

I watched Star Trek growing up. Fav episode: "Space Seed." Least liked: the last one, I forget its title. Fav characters:

1.Kirk - "...fire!"
2.Spock - "Logical"
3.Scotty - "She's breakin' up!"
4.Bones - "He's dead, Jim."
5.Sulu - "Firing, captain"
6.Uhura - "There's too much interference."
7.Chekov - "Aye, Cyapten"

8.Usual Officer In Red - "I'll take a look around, captain."

I like the original star trek the best, it was funny and had the most character, later they started taking them selves way to seriously,
and they got real actors.
as long as gene roddenberry was still involved it felt a bit like star trek but now it just feels like some one is trying to make money.

I have to say Star Trek didn't really start for me until about the 3rd season of The Next Generation. Usually I think originals are better but not in this case. I guess I have to appreciate how they worked within the limitations back then but I just don't like Kirk and his massive ego. but... it's just tv... burp.

I liked TOS. I liked the interactions of the characters and their special personalities. It was relaxed, and Kirk was amusing. :)

But I think that TNG was the better of the two. Partly because of better effects, but partly that Jean-Luc was so good.

What? No one else likes DS9!?!??!

Am I the only one that when Avery Brooks showed up with a shaved head and facial hair, freaked out and said "It's Hawk from Spencer for Hire! Sweeeeeeet."

[Q looks around] Uh...guess so.

Looking at all the series (yes, I am a very very sad person, I've seen them all) I say to myself, "Self, of which of the series do I know the most about the characters?" And to that I would have to say DS9. IMO, it had the most character development and backstory on the characters. Plus they had Ferengis...the lecherous, ear rubbing little freaks that they were.

My favorite series would be TOS though. IT didn't have the politcal correctness that plagued TNG and you can't go wrong with Shatner's one-two line delivery or double fisted punches. Also, that was back when Scotty was lean and mean (how many times did he threaten to blow something up when in the command chair?) before he developed the large and cuddly persona for the ST movies.

Though for myself, Enterprise comes in a close second. Even though they did butcher the existing ST timeline. I liked the actors, the stories (even though they deviated greatly from the science fiction of Roddenbery) and even the lighting.

I still have to stick with the original star trek, each character had flaws, and insecurity's that is what makes them human and there flaws were consistent in every show.
in some of the later shows the characters problems would show up and then just disappear.

Spock: "I'm just not Vulcan enough, oh woe is me."
kirk: " I'm in command of my ship! pay attention to me dammit"
MC coy: "how can you all be so immoral ?"
Scott : " I'm trying to fix what you just broke and will brake again in the next 10 minuets"
uhura: " i don't want to grow old"
even the lady with the red dress who never did anything except hand kirk the clip board,
it was so obvious that she was in love with him but could never tell him.
